Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Here’s how to safely set up your Ledger device through Ledger.com/Start®:

1. Visit the Official Website

Open your browser and go to Ledger.com/Start®. Choose your device model to begin the guided setup process.

2. Download Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the companion app for your hardware wallet. It allows you to:

  • View your portfolio
  • Send and receive crypto
  • Install apps for supported coins
  • Manage NFT and DeFi access
  • Securely sign transactions

Ledger Live is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.

3. Connect and Initialize Your Device

  • Plug in your Ledger using the USB cable (or use Bluetooth for Nano X)
  • Select “Set up as new device”
  • Choose a secure PIN code using the device buttons
  • Write down the 24-word recovery phrase exactly as it appears
  • Confirm the phrase when prompted

What Is a Recovery Phrase?

When setting up your Ledger, you’ll receive a 24-word recovery phrase. This phrase is your master backup. If your device is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can use the phrase to recover your wallet.

Never:

  • Take a photo of it
  • Save it in cloud storage
  • Share it with anyone
  • Enter it on a website or app

Your recovery phrase = access to all your funds.
